Director of Community Education
The Rockwood School District is seeking an outstanding administrator for the position of Director
of Community Education
ABOUT PARKWAY-ROCKWOOD COMMUNITY ED:
Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership of the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high-quality programs that enhance the quality of life for residents.
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for strategic direction, financial performance and operational management to ensure the Community Ed program furthers its mission in the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts. In addition, provide supervision to the Rockwood Technical Theater and Rockwood Facility Usage departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee strategic planning, development and delivery of fee-based, non-credit, customized and community-based programs for youth, families and adults in the areas of adult education & literacy, aquatics, art/enrichment, outdoor education, school-age care and sports & fitness
- Provide leadership to 300+ full-time, part-time and seasonal staff across programming, operations and marketing/communications functional areas
- Manage budgeting, capital planning, revenue strategy and resource allocation for a $13M+ annual budget to ensure operational effectiveness, fiscal accountability and long-term sustainability
- Establish, monitor and evaluate performance standards for the Community Ed program
- Lead implementation of process improvements to streamline operations, improve service delivery and enhance customer experience
- Build and maintain partnerships with internal stakeholders, community organizations and regional partners to expand program opportunities
- Provide leadership, coaching, and evaluation to staff to foster innovation, accountability and continuous improvement
- Benchmark program offerings and performance against industry standards and best practices to drive continuous improvement
- Serve as advocate for the program, removing obstacles and barriers to success when possible and escalating critical issues to district leadership
- Lead the integration of core values across all program operations to foster a cohesive and values-driven organizational culture
- Serve as a member of administrative teams for both Parkway and Rockwood; attend meetings as required
- Represent Community Ed at programs and events, in the districts, and at community events as needed
- Provide oversight and direction to the Rockwood Technical Theater department and Rockwood Facility Usage department to ensure work supports district goals
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in education, recreation, sports & leisure, communications, business or comparable discipline required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience in lifelong learning, community education, recreation, school-age care programming or similar field
- Proven experience in developing and managing multi-million-dollar budgets preferred
- Experience building and sustaining cross-sector partnerships with business, nonprofit and education institutions
- Experience supervising large groups of employees
- Previous experience working with upper-level management and Boards of Education preferred
- Strong writing, analytical, communications and organizational skills
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects at the same time
- Working knowledge of Google Workspaces and Microsoft Office software
