Director of Purchasing

The Rockwood School District is seeking an outstanding administrator for the position of Director of Purchasing

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Provide technical assistance to school and administrative personnel to ensure the district maximizes the benefit of all expenditures
  • Develop method of purchasing supplies and equipment, which fosters quality as well as maximize financial benefit
  • Review and approve purchase orders up to $25,000
  • Provide information, assistance, and guidance to building personnel to facilitate use of cooperative purchasing agreements at the county, state, and federal level
  • Manage the district’s purchasing card program
  • Manage the obsolete items process in a manner that maximizes receipts
  • Manage major district contracts including copier and beverage contracts
  • Develop school capital outlay furnishing budgets and manages the purchase and delivery of these items
  • Develop budgets for and manages the purchase of furniture and equipment for all new building and building renovation projects
  • Prepare bid notices, specifications, conducts public bid openings, evaluates bids, and makes recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer for supplies, equipment, and services to be purchased
  • Maintain record keeping system on bid solicitations, bid openings, purchases and supportive documents
  • Maintain bid list database
  • Supervise the Purchasing staff
  • Prepare reports for the Chief Financial Officer relating to the purchasing function
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer in other short or long-range duties, as assigned

   

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in business, accounting, finance, or a related field. Master’s Degree and Purchasing certification, such as Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) preferred. 
  • Analytical, financial, budgeting, negotiating capabilities are required
  • Three to five years’ experience involving educational leadership, decision making, management, and long-range planning
  • Minimum of three to five years of appropriate experience, or any combination of experience and training which would provide the acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Interpersonal relations, organizational, planning, communication and managements skills are necessary
  • Demonstrated success at designing and maintaining a positive, collaborative culture
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position

260 Day Contract
