Due to the retirement of the current Superintendent, the Palmyra R-1 School District is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Superintendent of Schools. Palmyra serves 1,174 students with 101 teachers, 8 administrators, and 51 support staff. Three school buildings make up the educational facilities with the Elementary School (PreK-4), Middle School (5-8), and High School (9-12) all housed on separate campuses. Palmyra R-1 is a member of the Clarence Cannon Conference.

Assessed valuation is $150,794,249 with a tax levy of $4.0280 which includes a $0.7986 debt service levy. The annual operating budget is $11,171,632 and reserve fund balances are 31.92%. The district recently completed facility upgrades that include a newly renovated middle school kitchen and addition, renovated Vo-Ag building, new wrestling room, and a new track and football field complex on the high school campus. Transportation is district owned and operated. Buses are housed in a modern facility on the high school campus.

Salary range is $110,000-$135,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Missouri Superintendent’s certificate or eligibility thereof required. Prior administrative experience required. Board paid benefits include health, vision, and life insurance.

Palmyra (pop. 3,600) is the county seat of Marion County, located in Northeast Missouri approximately ten miles northwest of Hannibal, MO (pop. 17, 320) and 17 miles southwest of Quincy, IL (pop. 40, 320).
