  • Assessment - The Assessment Section manages test development, on-going test maintenance, and oversees the test administration for statewide, large-scale assessments.
  • Curriculum Services - The curriculum services section provides professional services related to the development and implementation of improved curricula in the schools of the state.
  • Career Education - Missouri Career Education combines academics and occupational skill training to prepare students of all ages.  Training programs are offered in Agriculture, Business, Health Sciences, Family and Consumer Sciences, Skilled Technical Sciences, Technology and Engineering, and Marketing and Cooperative Education.
  • School Counseling – The School Counseling Section provides resources and technical assistance to help school counselors fully implement comprehensive school counseling programs in their schools.

 What you’ll do:

  • Supervises, coordinates and evaluates the day-to-day management of personnel, programs and services assigned to the Office of College and Career Readiness (OCCR) by the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Learning Services including assessment, curriculum, agriculture, career and technical programs, food and natural resources, business, marketing & information technology, civil rights compliance, family and consumer sciences, technology, health and skilled technical sciences, school counseling and adult education
  • Assists in the development and implementation of Department policy and the strategic plan including the vision, mission, core values, priority areas, success measures and strategic actions
  • Directs and supervises state and federally financed programs in accordance with the policies of the State Board of Education and Missouri statutes
  • Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders
  • Informs and advises the Deputy Commissioner of Learning Services on the implementation and effectiveness of policies and recommends improvements
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities including self-directed professional development and the development of team members
  • Assists the Deputy Commissioner with providing critical OCCR information to the Commissioner and the State Board of Education
  • Supervises the development and filing of Department rules and regulations affecting OCCR as provided in Chapter 536, RSMo
  • Represents the Department at various local, area, state, regional and national conferences or meetings

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree (doctorate preferred) in an education field or closely related area with other abilities, training, and experiences in the instructional process as required by the State Board of Education.
  • Successful experience as a school administrator, career education administrator, or adult education supervisor, with other abilities, training and experience is preferred.
