Deputy Superintendent of Operations
The Deputy Superintendent of Operations plays a critical role in overseeing the operational aspects of the district, ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of day-to-day activities. This position is responsible for managing the district's non-academic operations, including finance, facilities, transportation, and human resources, while supporting the district's strategic goals. The Deputy Superintendent will collaborate with district leadership, school administrators, and external partners to implement policies, optimize resources, and improve operational efficiencies to create a supportive learning environment for all students.
Purpose Statement
The Deputy Superintendent of Operations is responsible for the management and oversight of the district's operational functions. This position ensures that operational services, including finance, facilities, and human resources, are delivered efficiently and effectively, supporting the district's overall mission to provide an exceptional education for all students.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Oversee the development and management of the district's budget, ensuring the allocation of resources in alignment with district priorities.
- Facilities Management: Ensure that all district facilities are well-maintained, secure, and conducive to learning, and manage long-term planning for facility improvements.
- Transportation: Manage transportation services to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation for students.
- Policy Development: Collaborate with district leadership in developing policies and procedures that support the operational needs of the district.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, parents, vendors, and community members, to ensure the efficient operation of district services.
- Risk Management: Oversee district risk management strategies, including insurance coverage and safety protocols, to mitigate potential liabilities.
- Compliance: Ensure that district operations comply with state and federal regulations, district policies, and best practices.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the district's long-term strategic plan, particularly in areas related to operations and resources.
- Leadership Team Member: Serve as a key member of the district's leadership team, providing input on district-wide decision-making and supporting initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness.
Job Requirements
- Education: Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
- Experience: Extensive experience in education leadership, operations management, or a related field with a proven track record in managing large-scale operations, preferably in a district or governmental setting.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex operations and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of finance, facilities management, transportation, and human resources, as well as current trends in operational best practices.
- Abilities: Ability to think strategically, lead cross-functional teams, and make data-driven decisions to improve operational efficiencies.
Work Environment
The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional visits to district facilities and schools. Some travel within the district and to meetings may be required.
Education and Experience
- Education: Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
- Experience: Extensive job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility in district operations management; prior experience in senior leadership roles preferred.
Salary
$200,000 Minimum Starting Salary. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
