Director of Student Services
Purpose Statement
The Director of Student Services serves as part of the Academic Team and as a member of the District Leadership Team. This role coordinates district-wide programming supporting student well-being and safety. The Director focuses on the administration of policies and regulations related to student services, discipline, attendance, and student activities, ensuring compliance and consistency across the district.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate district-wide programming that supports student well-being and safety
- Administer policies and regulations related to student services, discipline, attendance, and activities
- Supervise district drug prevention efforts
- Maintain compliance with state and federal programs
- Support K–12 school counselors and Tier 1 social-emotional learning efforts
- Supervise 504 processes
- Resolve patron complaints
- Coordinate district homeless and foster care services
- Oversee the district Code of Conduct and related hearings
- Administer residency and boundary issues
- Respond to Office of Civil Rights (OCR) complaints
- Support schools with legal issues (e.g., custody matters)
- Assist with CSIP and MSIP development and compliance
- Serve as a member of the Academic Team and District Leadership Team
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups
- Develop and successfully execute action plans
Job Requirements / Basic Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Education or a related field
- Successful classroom teaching experience (5 years preferred)
- Successful building administration or district-level leadership experience (5 years preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office software
- Ability to supervise others and provide coaching and feedback
- Demonstrates sound judgment, social competency, and resourcefulness
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Experience with district-level data and assessment work, including:
- Coordinating state assessments
- District accountability systems (MSIP)
- MTSS frameworks
- Coordinating professional learning
- Monitoring impact
- Data analysis for measuring student success
Work Environment
- District administrative setting
- Frequent collaboration with schools, departments, families, and community agencies
- High-level leadership, compliance, and problem-solving responsibilities
Education and Experience
- Required: Master's Degree in Education or related field
- Preferred: Extensive experience in teaching and leadership
