Director of Non-Traditional Learning
The Rockwood School District is seeking an outstanding administrator for the position of Director of Non-Traditional Learning
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide leadership in the development of the instructional program, based upon current research on effective schools, alternative schools, and digital learning
- Oversee the development and provide leadership for non-traditional learning Provide leadership to online and digital learning, and works with home schools Anticipate, mitigate, and escalate academic issues of home schools as they develop
- Collects, organize, and tracks all documentation associated with the assessment of online instruction
- Establish and maintain an effective culturally competent learning climate in the alternative setting
- Implement evidenced-based proactive approaches to support social, emotional well-being Assist teachers in the identification and development of individualized interventions intended to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students using evidenced-based strategies
- Evaluate and revise curricular and instructional programs in cooperation with staff and appropriate district administrators for non-traditional and digital learners
- Supervise staff and be responsible for the recruitment, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluation of certified and support staff
- Develop and support a community relations program with parents and local community groups as a means of interpreting and furthering school programs and encourage parent and community participation in the school’s program(s)
- Provide professional development, in the areas of social, emotional and character development, restorative practices, trauma informed practices, and digital learning with an emphasis on Whole School Implementation of best practices
- Support staff in developing community partnerships and linkages for social services and behavioral health supports for high-risk students
- Responsible for all operations at the Pathways Wellness Center (alternative learning site) Facilitate virtual learning enrollment for grade K-12
- Attend and participate in district coordinator/administrative meetings
- Maintain student files; memos; student placement information; communications regarding policies, regulations, referral information; vocational-technical school information; keep schools up-to-date on student status
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent Supervision of Secondary Education
- Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students
- Establish guidelines for proper student attendance, conduct, and for maintaining student discipline
- Prepare and submit the school’s budgetary requests and monitors expenditures of funds
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred with a major in educational administration
- Must hold a Missouri certificate as a secondary school principal
- Successful secondary school administration and supervision experience
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a classroom teacher
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position
