The Lexington R-V School District, Lexington, Missouri is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Superintendent

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Prepare and submit project applications and coordinate a comprehensive program for the education of disabled students in the Lexington R-V School District as defined by Special Education Regulations, Standards and Procedural Guidelines, and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Assess special education program procedures and documents to ensure compliance with federal laws, state laws, and local policies.
  • Coordinate and supervise the Parents as Teachers (PAT) Program.
  • Coordinate with building attendance centers the district Homebound Instruction Program.
  • Coordinate and supervise the district screening of one, two, three, and four-year-olds.
  • Confer with principals, counselors, and special services personnel concerning pupil referral, evaluation, transportation, and placement in appropriate special education programs.
  • Prepare reports as directed by the Superintendent.
  • Coordinate Homeless Children and Youth Program.
  • Collaborate with building principals for the Performance Based Evaluation of special service teachers and paraprofessionals.
  • Complete Performance based Evaluation of “district level” special education staff.
  • Work with building principals in organizing and integrating special service programs within each building.
  • Coordinate district level Curriculum and Instruction programming.
  • Provide leadership for developing and providing instructional materials, equipment, and facilities for all district programs.
  • Recommend/collaborate such “in-service” needed to improve the district educational program.
  • Administer the financial reporting and accounting of federal and special programs.
  • Coordinate and lead the district’s Summer School Program.
  • Account for budgetary expenditures regarding special service programs and specified grants.
  • Consult with the Superintendent concerning budget development for the operation of special education and federal programs.
  • Perform other duties and functions assigned by the Superintendent.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Special Education Process Coordinators, Special Education Teachers, Special Education Paraprofessionals, Parent Educators, Early Childhood Education Program, Federal Programs, School Based Social Worker, School Based Therapist, Gifted Education, School Nurses, and District Summer School.

QUALIFICATIONS/TERMS:  

  • The Assistant Superintendent must have a minimum of a Specialist Degree and have or be eligible to obtain the necessary certification as required by the State Board of Education for assistant superintendent and/or special education administrator.  (Special education certification or license in related K-12 special education required)
  • The Assistant Superintendent must have a minimum of five years teaching experience as well as meet any other requirements as may be deemed necessary by the State or Lexington R-V Board of Education.
  • Experience in supervising and writing grants (preferred)
  • Educational Administrative Certificate with two years of successful building level administrative experience (preferred)
  • The employee will complete a satisfactory criminal/abuse and neglect background check in accordance with state law and Board policy
  • 12 month contract including 20 vacation days and entitled to all current certified staff benefits.  (Salary schedule placement based on experience)
