The Fulton 58 School District is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic individual to fill the Director of Special Services and Federal Programs position that will support students, faculty, and community of the Fulton 58 School District for the 2021-22 school year. Approximately 2,300 students are enrolled in the district, grades K-12. FPS includes an Early Childhood Center, three elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. In collaboration with administrators, principals, and educators, the director will provide positive and strategic leadership to inspire, achieve, and maintain a shared mission and vision for learning.

 

Performance Responsibilities include a variety of duties but are not limited to those listed below as in accordance with the Fulton Public Schools Board of Education policies and regulations and administrative regulations under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools.  Primary responsibilities are to supervise Special Education, Federal Programs, and work in conjunction with the Director of Student Services in regards to homeless, foster care, ELL, homebound, and gifted.

 

  • Administer and supervise all programs for students in special education as provided for by federal and state law.
  • Work cooperatively with building principals on all programs for special education and federal programs.
  • Develop proposals, submit report forms, make program revisions, and complete follow-ups necessary for district compliance to federal law, state law, and Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regulations, with regard to special education and federal programs.
  • Be responsible for coordinating all awareness activities in relation to special education and federal programs.
  • Advise the Board of Education, administration, and staff of both the federal and state regulations governing special education and federal programs.
  • Coordinate in-service activities within the school district with regard to special education and federal programs.
  • Supervise the maintenance of proper student records and IEP’s.
  • Provide for appropriate child-find, screening, assessing, and identification of children with special needs.
  • Initiate contacts and implement contracts with special agencies when such are warranted to meet the needs of students with special needs.
  • Make recommendations, in cooperating with building principals, for all needed services for students with special needs, as stipulated in federal and state law
  • Make recommendations, in cooperating with building principals, regarding all grievances concerning special education and federal programs.
  • Supervise the special education process coordinators
  • Assist the superintendent in personnel matters and perform other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent.

The following desired documented qualifications are sought:

  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience
  • Graduate degree
  • Administration and supervision experience preferred
  • Valid Missouri Administrative Certification preferred
  • Background clearance
