JOB DESCRIPTION 

ASSISTANT ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL 

QUALIFICATIONS:                          

  • Masters Degree in Educational Administration
  • Valid Missouri certificate for Elementary Principal.
  • Prefer building administration experience.
  • Basic understanding of elementary school curricula, instructional leadership, student services, technical use, school building operations, school law, and program budgeting.

TERMS OF CONTRACT:       220 days, compensation per salary schedule.

 REPORT TO:                           Elementary principal           

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:              
Essential job skills/knowledge and abilities:

  • Be responsible for the supervision and performance evaluation of 20% of the certificated staff as assigned by the principal.
  • Handle bus discipline referrals.
  • Assist the principal in constructing the master schedule for special classes.
  • Assist the principal in improving instructional practices building wide.
  • Work collaboratively with other assistant principals to create school and district Emergency/Safety Plans.
  • Work collaboratively with other assistant principals to effectively handle student issues of attendancem bullying and harrassment.
  • Be responsible for scheduling and implementing safety drills.
  • Be responsible for building and playground maintenance and safety.
  • Serve as bus loading supervisor at the end of the school day.
  • Serve as principal when regular principal is absent.
  • Schedule and implement all transportation requests.
  • Assist the principal in the implementation and administration of student discipline as directed.
  • Administer a minimum of one (1) student incentive program per building.
  • Strive to achieve assigned goals from the District’s CSIP (Comprehensive School Improvement Plan).
  • Serve as the leader for Tier 1 behavioral interventions
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the principal or superintendent.

EVALUATION:                         Annual formative and summative evaluation conducted by the building principal.
